Hello and Welcome to the Textile Trunk! A Wonderful chintz, SO RARE and beautiful! This piece is an antique French curtain panel, dating to circa 1850-60.
This piece was likely once a panel in a larger curtain. The lovely tailing rosebud floral design was both roller and hand block printed! Lovely antique tones of blue-green (mostly green) and pink on a pattern gray stripe and beige ground.
There are little metal hooks for hanging the curtain at the top. Such a stunning piece of textile history, perfect for use as is, decorative pillows, curtains, etc! The chintz fabric is slightly stiff from the glaze, with a wonderful crisp texture. (E756) MEASUREMENTS: This curtain measures about 31 inches wide by 120 inches long. CONDITION : This fabric is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. Please note I have multiples of this textile, so the condition may vary slightly for each. There are some tiny speckled brown marks and age marks on this textile in a perhaps a tiny hole or two. There is evidence of old seams along the long side edges. Condition reflected in the price!
