The original store owner had a little mishap with her, and the box's cellphone was torn and taped by him. He may have gotten a bit carried away with the tape. But better safe than sorry. The doll itself is Stunning! Because of the careful, long-term storage, her vinyl is like brand new.
No vinyl color-shift anywhere on her body. It's getting difficult to find this doll without darkening of her face and head. In this case, her head is just like new and perfectly matches the body. I've occasionally been tempted to open her, but the box is in such great condition without any fading from room lighting or sunlight. And underneath the shrink wrapped cello, the original SEPERATE clear plastic logo piece is still firmly attached and is beautifully vibrant and perfect.
This is the section with the writing on it at the bottom, by her legs. I've never re-shrinkwrapped anything, but I know it's a fairly common practice with the mod era 1960s and'70s dolls. Might be something to consider. And I'm sure it's easily done. If you don't want to do it yourself, a Google search will likely help you out in a pinch.Or perhaps a fellow collector or friend? Worth mentioning is that, because of the ideal storage conditions, when i just took her out of storage, I gently pulled on the tape. The glue hadn't hardened and it left no residue on the cellphone!
Nonetheless, i gently pushed it back on and left it in place. I'll leave that decision up to the potential new owner. Aside from that, there's a little dark area or letter on the tape at the top. Kind of looks like pencil or marker or something like that, but I can say with almost complete certainty, it would come off the tape with a bit of gentle solvent like mineral spirits. And please note, the box itself is overall damage-free, but does have a little wave/indent on the right side of the top end.
It's visible in the photo. It's near the corner. The shrink wrap sticks out a bit on that corner too, but it's NOT torn or open. Excess shrink wrap on box corners from Mattel's original factory packaging is pretty common on these open-faced boxes. Please note that ALL the box contents are untouched and pristine!
Even the little sponge on the color-changing brush/wand has escaped the frequent deterioration and crumbling we often see! The accessories included are: Barbie's One-piece Multicolor Diamond Print Swimsuit, Multicolor Diamond Print Headband, Turquoise Bobby Pin, 4 Hair Ribbons, 3 Colored Bobby Pins, Light Blue Tulle Tie, Color Changer A & B, Sponge Applicator. This truly is an awesome doll, ready to display as is, or to re-shrinkwrap... Or if you're daring....
Open her to dress in a really sensational outfit you have! I can think of sooo many!! Thanks so much for viewing this listing! NOTES: Please look at the photos carefully, given that they're a major and important part of the description. The item "Color Magic Barbie Rare Vintage NRFB Gold Hair.
