A very rare late Georgian to earliest Victorian 22k gold, blue enamel and seed pearl mourning jewelry set, parure, in original presentation case and complete with necklace, bracelet, pendant, brooch, and long elegant earrings.

Each one in beautiful wearable condition apart from one repair needed on the bracelet (see images). The old earring tops shown are original, but I'm including a pair of new 14k gold posts for pierced ears, in case you wish to convert. I had in mind to, but it's best to have the set as it was. The tops of earrings that appear in the set, and that are fitted to the box do not seem to me to be right.

For one, they're not 22k gold as the rest of the set is. The brooch is nice and large at just under 2 long (plus pin), and like all pieces, is very fine construction complete to solid backing rather than hollow-crafted by the goldsmith.

Slightly odd, the blue enamel on that one piece is off-shade to the other pieces. Each piece, down to even the tiny dangle heart on the necklace's centerpiece, have blue enamel, the color of the evening sky.

It is a mourning iconographic, meaning the end of day - end of a life. Likewise, each seed pearl is iconographic for the tears of the mourner who wears it. A small cross pendant might be exchanged for the dangle-heart, I suppose, or worn on a separate gold chain (not included). Everything in proper position, fitting made only for this set, it is very rare to find these old boxed parure, or jewelry sets, still complete. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Hand crafted in 22k gold. The measurements are noted on our photos for your review. It's a delicate and almost dainty-feel to it, though the earrings are 2 long as shown. No dents on any of the 22k gold pieces, and the one flaw seems to be that the bracelet has broken a link and needs repair. Small, one might want to have it lengthened when restored. I've only enjoyed it in display, but all but the bracelet can be immediately worn. We're easy to deal with. Our fine inventory is very important.
