RARE Antique Silver French Enamel Portrait VERGE FUSEE Pocket Watch 1700s. This is a very rare beautiful antique silver French verge fusee pocket watch from the 1700s. The case is sterling silver with multi-color gold accents and an enamel portrait of lady on the back.
In 1700s France, it was a fashion to have a ladies watch with a portrait of the owner on the back. This helped to discourage theft and was a show piece. This watch is over 200 years old, and I recommend a professional restoration. Other condition: The enamel portrait is faded, worn, and has chips around the edge. The case was professionally repaired at some point as seen on the inner case photos. The dial has a chip missing at'35'. The hind has some damage and the case lid does not snap shut properly.
