On offer a rare authentic English antique Victorian c1870s secret compartment hair locket ring, crafted in 15K yellow gold. Extending around the outer shank a finely etched design, featuring floral and geometric motifs. The buckle component is hinged and opens to reveal finely plaited brunette hair.

The hair is intact and not frayed. Victorian hair rings are extremely rare and seldom contain their fragile contents in tact. Inside the band one finds the following engraved: E. This both dates the ring and identifies it as a mourning piece (they were sometimes also given as love tokens). The total weight of the ring is 3.7 grams and it is a US size 5.5.

The hinge and closing mechanism are intact and the ring is in overall excellent antique condition. English hallmarks and 15CT inside the band. Patina is consistent with age (I would not recommend cleaning this off). Please see photos for more details.
