Rare Vintage 1910 Immell Chippewa Fishing Lure Wood, Glass Eyes, Bass/musky
The lure is all-original as found. Immell started out for himself while a boy in his early teens. As a youth he did farm work. For several years he was a clerk in the Farmers' Trading Association store at Blair. For one year he traveled for the Ramer Candy Company, of Winona, and for six years the Winona Candy Company, of that city. Later he traveled for seven years for the Kratchwil Candy Company, of La Crosse. In 1913, Omer Ommell established at Blair, Wisc.

The Immell Bait Company for the manufacture of the now famous "Chippewa Bait". MARKINGS: This spinner blade has the patent date and is marked: PAT'D NOV. 1 1910 on one side and the other side is painted red (original).

No other markings were found. The exact age is unknown but believed to be 1910 to 1913 give or take a year. The wood body measures approximately 4-1/8 long. The color on this lure is green and red with a yellow belly. The GLASS EYES are in very good condition. The left eye does show a slight crack. The right eye is in excellent condition, as there are no cracks or hairlines. The famous 1910 marked spiral blade spins perfectly as designed! The Chippewa Bait has some paint loss and paint flaking along the bottom of the lure and around the right eye due to age and general use. Remember the lure is over 100 years old and a true antique! The three hooks and hardware are original due to the lure design; note that the hooks are rusted and missing some of the barbs/hooks. Some of the lure design would not be seen if not for the paint loss.

The belly hooks are mounted on a metal plate running across the belly. The "Chippewa Bait" is rare and hard to find in any condition. Indeed, this is a true piece of American Fishing lure history! This would be a great addition for any Antique Fishing Lure Collection.

WE THINK THIS IS IN CLASSIC ANTIQUE CONDITION! APPEARANCE IS OLD & WELL USED!
