Rare Vintage Antique Gergovia Crabe Jack made In Claremont Ferrand Not Michelin
Vintage Gergovia "crabe" car Jack. Manufactured in Claremont Ferrand France. I suspect it is from the early 1930s. Claremont Ferrand is the home of Michelin. This is a very cool and rare item. The Jack has four solid steel wheels and moves freely along the ground like a crab. The Jack has marks allover it, chipped paint and signs of use as you would expect for being approx 90 years old.
The green original paint is flaking. The Jack has had no restoration/polishing, It is as found. The handle is not included.
The Jack extends and retracts when a handle is used. The Jack has not been tested under load and I would not use under load due to its age. The claw of the Jack or the bit which actually touches the car looks to have a section missing on each side. Dimensions can be seen in the photographs.
