Vintage Shiny Brite 8 Christmas Ornaments W/ Box 3 Santa Clauses & 5 Birds. There are 3 Santa's and 5 birds. These are from my great- grandmother's estate. They are from the 1940's. Please message me for more pictures as I can only upload 12 photos total.
A scarce boxed set of Shiny Brite figural Christmas ornaments in plastic. Oddly, the red and tan Shiny Brite boxes say glass ornaments but are fitted with a custom cardboard insert to hold the plastic Santas and birds. The last photo shows the set as pictured (without the box lid) in a 1948 Sears Christmas catalog.
You can see this set in George Johnson's book Pictorial Guide to Christmas Ornaments... These late 1940s silvered hard plastic song bird Christmas ornaments were made for Shiny Brite. The birds vary in size depending on the length of their spun glass fiber tails (as you can see, some are shorter than others). The bodies without the tails are 3-1/2 inches long.
Molded loops on the backs allow you to hang them from the tree. Unfortunately the metallic finish didn't wear well over the years.
The birds have spotting, discoloration, and paint wear as shown. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Holiday & Seasonal\Ornaments". The seller is "megan_purple" and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
