Universal Genève SA is a Swiss luxury watch company, founded in 1894 as "Universal Watch". Since its beginnings, the company has produced complete watches with in-house movements, and throughout the 20th century, distributed many notable and important timepieces. Along with neighboring Geneva companies Audemars Piguet, Girard-Perregaux, Patek Philippe and Rolex, Universal is internationally regarded for its style of craftsmanship and manufacture. In addition, the brand also makes historical claim for creating the first-ever chronographic wristwatch in 1917.This is the only known example of a two tone dial on the Compur line that I have ever come across. The dial has developed a beautiful patina, and it untouched. The hands and dial are original and in great shape. The watch is 35mm, and wears more like a 36. The stainless steel case is in great shape for it's age (this is a 1940's model).
Inside is a Cal 386 manual wind movement. The Compur 30 is the rarest model of the Compur line, because of the Cal. The watch was serviced last year, and so everything works perfectly. It keeps time, and the chronograph resets and runs right.
